PERSONAL BIOGRAPHY

During my student days, besides taking the courses in my own department, I also studied other areas. I once worked as an assistant in my department’s computer room, where I managed the department’s workstations and www server. In various campus organizations and in the department’s student council, I was the head of media and activities, which meant that I was responsible for designing promotional materials, gathering information, and planning group activities. During my junior year, a professor in my department recommended me for an internship at FlySheet Co. Ltd., and I helped that company set up a website, test software, and manage office data. Meanwhile, in the training library I served as the head of the Computer Division, so I taught classmates in my department about computer hardware, how to install and modify operating systems like Windows and Linux, and so on. Through the process of interacting with and teaching my classmates, I improved my own skills with computers and networks and made many friends.

After graduating, I entered the Air Force for two years to complete my military service. Since I was considered physically fit, sociable, and skilled with computers, I was promoted to sergeant, so I was responsible for personnel management, handling matters pertaining to promotions, transfers, discharges, and so on. During my tour of duty I helped my unit plan its network hardware and e-mail system. Using the office software I independently completed a personnel database and created a file of formats for all kinds of official documents. As a result, I was awarded by the 1st lieutenant in charge of the base and given an outstanding serviceman’s medal. After my discharge, I began working for my father’s trading firm as a public relations assistant. I assisted in client liaison and handling various office documents. Later on, I began working in customer services for the Taiwan branch of EBSCO Inc., which is America’s largest journal subscription and on-line database service provider. I was responsible for handling customer requests and providing training courses for clients. During the time I have worked there, I learned much more about how a large international company uses ERP, what its procedures are for internal matters and resource control, and how it uses office automation and the Internet to effectively manage company resources. Because of my experience working for the company and because of the training I have received there, I understand the importance of CRM in such a company, as well as its developmental potential. I also sensed that my own command of infotechnology is inadequate, that it needs further strengthening before I can face the challenges of the future.

I started my graduate study in Fall, 2003 and majored in MBA. During the 2 years in Chicago, I strengthened my knowledge and abilities in business management. I made friends from different countries and experienced their culture by our daily interaction. The most important treasure I got from my career in U.S is not the diploma of MBA but the friends, the experience of western culture and the personal value I learned during my graduate study.

After starting my career after graduation, I would like to take myself as a entry level employee and try to equipped myself with strong professional skills and experience as best as i can. My final target is to become a well-experienced and skillful manager who can provide better business information and strategy, enhance corporate image, and create greater profits for the company.
